On the death of R.P.
On the death of R.P. died June 29th 1871
He’s gone and we will miss him here
The Christian friend and husband dear
He’s gone to join those realms above
Have everlasting peace and love
Awake the host across the flood
Whose sins are washed in Jesus’ blood
To bring them home the Lord came down
That they might wear the victor’s crown
And though we can’t refrain the tear
This thought at least our minds will clear
That God has called his soul again
And what’s our loss has been his gain
Thou that know art of prayer
And make the widows lot thy care
Thy love can make cheer the lonely hour
And guard the plant around the flower
